As many of you know, Sam Caruthers worked at Second Harvest Food Bank and enjoyed his job tremendously. Although he had many roles while working there, the job he enjoyed most was the Orange County Harvest Program, working with volunteers to grow, plant and pick crops for distribution to needy people. Sam retired from Second Harvest after receiving a cancer diagnosis in early 2014. In retirement, he had time to travel, play golf, and spend with family before passing on June 7, 2021.
A big THANKS to Sam's golf buddies for holding a memorial golf tournament on July 11, 2021, which raised $1,200 (equaling 3,600 meals) for the food bank!
In his honor, you can help Second Harvest provide more fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy and proteins to our neighbors in Orange County who face food insecurity with your contributions through this Virtual Food Drive. Virtual food drive proceeds are used to purchase food and provides services for the hungry.
On behalf of Sam, we thank you.
